I’m a Canadian entrepreneur, educator and adventurer.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from McGill University in Montreal and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Ivey Business School in London. These degrees make me a pretty useful person to have around.

My first company was a bakery in Northern Ireland; my second a carbon neutral packaging firm which works with small but ambitious brands. (I sold both.)

I’ll go a long way for a good stretchy croissant.

Currently on faculty at the Ivey Business School in Ontario, I teach entrepreneurship and offer private coaching to small business owners. I aspire to improve societal wellbeing via inventive means.

(If you want to read more about that, here's an article about me doing so in the Globe & Mail.) Small businesses close every day not because they lack loyal clients or a great product, but because their owners are burnt out and can’t afford to keep going.

Much of the current business literature and mentorship is focused on high-growth tech companies, but I believe small businesses play an essential role in community wellbeing (and daily delight!), and that their profit potential and longevity should be nourished and supported.

After all, the challenges small businesses face and the tools needed to overcome those are unique. This is where I hope to help.

From my own experience building companies, I know how easy it is to work gloriously hard - but without much profit to show for it.

“Sarah helped me take control of my finances and embrace change in my business. She motivated me to use a spreadsheet tool that monitors expense categories (ex. COGS, labour, overhead) as a percentage of income, while also setting a profit target.

Under her mentorship, I doubled my personal income. I would highly recommend working with Sarah if you want to make changes in your business to increase profitability and work-life balance.”
